Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving at the Gallaghers in Sacramento
On Thanksgiving morning we drove down to Sacramento. Eventually the
Evan, Laura, Ian, and Fiona also showed up. Others present were Rita's
mother,
Polly,
and the Gallaghers' friend, Jim, here
visiting with Rita.
While awaiting the main event,
Ian, Grammy, and Fiona
enjoyed some frivolity, along with some
more serious time.
Meanwhile, the
table was set and the
associated goodies were progressing. But there was still some time for
serious study
by Ian. But, all work and no play isn't any fun, so
here's a little fun.
Meanwhile,
Fiona was doing
some heavy contemplation herself. Finally, it was time for the first
course of
potato soup, served
up by Dennis and Jim. At last, it's time for Dennis to
carve the turkey.
Later,
cousin Brenna
arrives and its time for dress-up.
Friday at the Sacramento Zoo
Friday is "free" day at the Sacramento Zoo in Land Park. Since it is
within walking distance (and free the day after Thanksgiving), some of us
decide to forego shopping and head to the zoo. Evan and I are joined by
Brenna and Jennifer (Brenna's Mom), along with Ian and Fiona. We met
near the
Flamingo pond. Soon,
Brenna and Fiona
are riding "some kind of concrete bird".
Ian checks out his
wingspan. We have fun checking out the
giraffe, and
while it's tempting, we pass by
Ice Cream Station Zebra
in favor of watching the
leopards, with the
youngster wondering just how to get up there, anyway.
Some members of our
group posed with
some distant(?)
relatives. Later in the day, we travel to Benicia along with Evan, Laura,
Ian, and Fiona.
Benicia
Back in Benicia, here's Fiona with my
Studebaker cap.
After we get the Christmas tree, it's time for the decorations and other
Christmas items to come out. Here
Ian with his Santa cap,
and, not to be outdone,
Fiona with hers.
Decorating the tree
proceeds, with
Ian reaching from the
stairs.
Sunday, home to Oregon.
