Family Pictures and a Giant's Ballgame

We drove to Benicia on August 6th for our long-awaited (well, it was so long awaited because we just couldn't seem to get it all together) family photo session the next day. Also for our long-awaited (more of same reason) visit to SBC Park and a Giants game that the "kids" had given me some while back for a previous birthday.

On Saturday afternoon Evan, Laura, Ian, and Fiona came to our motel near SFO to dress for the photo session. This picture shows Ian in his usual state of motion, while Fiona actually sits still (almost a first, in my mind) getting her hair arranged. The photo session was in Washington Park in Burlingame, and the photographer, Bob Doerr elected to get the most difficult * picture done first.

While various of the subgroup photos were being taken, those with cameras didn't let the opportunity of having everyone dressed up (well, more than usual) go to waste. So here are some pictures taken by the amateurs with their digital cameras.

Sunday morning we went down to Palo Alto to have brunch at the house of Stephen's mother, Nancy Drapkin, with Hailey, Tanna, and Stephen. After, Nancy, Richard, and Amelia * posed in her garden. There are also pictures of Wicket, Stephen, Tanna, Rabia, Richard, and Amelia ^, and Hailey, Stephen, Tanna, Richard, and Amelia ^.

Later in the afternoon, it was off to SBC Park in San Francisco. Nancy, Tanna, Stephen, and Hailey ^ got there before us and cavorted around the Willy Mays statue. Stephen, Tanna, Hailey, Laura, and Nancy ^ sat in the upper bleachers, near home base ^, where they also had a nice view of the bay ^. Evan and I sat in the lower bleachers, off first base, while the Giants were playing the Cubs #. Evan got this shot of me # enjoying the game (or something pretty good). A neighboring fan took this picture of me and Evan #. In the eighth inning, Dustan Mohr made a spectacular diving catch in center field (followed by about a 10 foot slide in the dirt) to end the Cubs part of the inning. Then he was immediately up to bat #. Here's another shot of SBC Park #. The Giants won 6-3, and being down low, Evan and I got out before the others. As part of my delayed birthday, I got a Giants cap #, shown here in front of SBC Park. Eventually the rest of the crew struggled out, and more pictures were taken. A good time was had by all. Thanks, "kids", for a memorable birthday present.
