Flowers, the beach, a birthday

I've taken many nice pictures of our yard and the flowers, along with some others that I like. So many pictures, so little time (you have to look at them, no doubt). I put them out there, you do as you can do, or want to do.

Mainly flowers

You'll see, it is mainly flowers, but I can't pass up a pretty good rainbow picture, as you know. This one was on April 17th. In mid-April, the azaleas were looking good. Here's another , with some other color in the foreground. While the flowers were popping out, the goldfish were doing their thing, for which we are greatful. The many fish in the pond (mosquito fish, as well as the goldfish) have virtually eliminated all mosquito larvae. Yay! A few irises came out and an abundance of California poppies have bloomed. In addition, we've had some mushrooms poking up around the yard.

On May 1, SOLIR took their spring hike along the Rogue River. Here the small but vigorous group gathered at the Dickenson's in Prospect before the hike. We saw a few flowers along the way, including some trilium, first a white one and then a lavendar one. In another vein, we also saw a well woodpeckered tree, and a tree stump with much of the earth eroded away from the roots by the Rogue River.

For Amelia's birthday, we took a little trip to the coast, staying at the Tu Tu' Tun Lodge up the Rogue River about seven miles from Gold Beach. Nice. Guess what? Along the way we saw these wild irises. The view south along the coast is pretty nice, while the view to the north is not that bad. These pictures were taken at Pt. Blanco, where there is this old lighthouse. Back home, we celebrated Amelia's birthday, and she set this nice table (while I did the cooking, or something).

Meanwhile, out in the yard the red clover is pretty thick near the driveway, and thanks to the birds is turning up all around, especially near high wires, fences, and trees where they rest after eating. The azaleas are still coming on, along with that purple stuff. The honeysuckle is coming on pretty good after a second winter. I don't know what this is (it was left over from the previous owner), but it's doing well, and looks pretty when flowering. Not everything is in the yard close to the house. These wild rose bushes are up on the "west 40" (well, ok, west 1.5) up the hill - you can see the shed and the house through the trees, barely. The Cecile' Brunner roses by the garden gate are looking pretty good from the front with irises in the foreground, and also pretty good from the inside, also with irises in the foreground. The pyracantha looks like it will have a plethora of berries this year, for which the robins will be eternally grateful, no doubt. The azaleas under the deck are looking good (different kind of azaleas). Finally, Amelia's alpine garden is looking very good, with the first picture taken on April 24th, and this one taken today. One more, taken today from the other end.

And now, for something completely different, here's Amelia standing on her new knee.
