One of our objectives this winter (aside from getting away from the gloomy weather in the Rogue Valley - much more rain than normal this year) was to do a bit of work on the townhouse. Perhaps it turned into a "bit" more than we (or at least, I) had in mind, but it is coming together. More to do next year, but that's next year.

One of the first things we tackled was the master bathroom. The two baths are basically mirror images of each other, and since I don't have an appropriate shot of before, this mirror image shot of the second bath will have to suffice. After stripping the wallpaper, painting the walls, and putting down new laminate tile, it looks like this.

Next came the kitchen (and simultaneously, the entryway). Here is a before of the kitchen from the dining area. Our nephew Eric came from Albuquerque and we put in new laminate flooring. Within less than a month, I had finished putting in the baseboard, and here it is after. Note that nothing has been done with the walls, but the new floor, and perhaps the time of day and lighting make the walls look a different color. Looking at the kitchen nook, here are before and after pictures. The entryway and kitchen floors are contiguous and here are the before and after shots of that. Of course, there is also some decorating been done here, too, as well as a practical coat/cap rack (also decorative).

The living room/dining room got some makeover, mainly at the accessory level. Here is a before shot of the living room, showing some of the "not quite us" decorations, while after we see some things gone bye-bye and some new things. Looking over toward the "reading corner" we see another of the lovely old pink lamps now replaced by a different color as well as a bookcase. A shot of the dining area shows the southwestern style before and the somewhat different southwestern style after.

The second bedroom came in for some redecoration, as well. Again, some of the soutwestern style decorations before have been replaced by other (better suited) southwestern style decorations after. Unseen is the computer armoire in the left corner.

The outside also came in for some redoing. The palm tree in front was looking pretty ragged. I really wanted to trim it myself, but decided to have in a professional, and he made it look pretty darn good. Also, Amelia had bought some decoration for our entryway, here with Kokopelli shown up close and personal. The backyard also came in for some help. Here is a before shot toward the rear escape hatch. After removing the bushes, putting in some cactus, rocks, and a wall sculpture, it looks like this. (Again, note that different lighting makes the wall look a different flavor - nothing was done with it.) Looking toward the bottle brush plant before, and after, we see the area is opened up, and there is a new birdbath and birdfeeders. Finally, looking back toward the house the before shot and the after. Makes me tired.
